Ancient Beginnings

The Birth of the Pizzeria
Modern pizza as we know it began to take shape in Naples, Italy, in the 18th century. The introduction of tomatoes from the Americas transformed flatbreads into the pizza we recognize today. The first pizzeria, Antica Pizzeria Port’Alba, opened in Naples in 1830, marking the beginning of the pizzeria as a dining establishment.
Simple Simon’s Pizza: A Slice of Tradition
BJ and Becky DuMond opened their first Simple Simon’s Pizza location in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, in 1987. From that single store, the brand has grown significantly, embracing the mission to provide a “Simply the Best” customer experience by serving high-quality pizzas, calizones, sandwiches, and more in a fun-filled, family atmosphere.
